  • MŌRIAH Sings A Spanish Church Song On The Red Carpet

From 'I Choose Jesus' to 'Parachute', Mexican-American recording artist and songwriter MŌRIAH , has been making incredible music for years. Photo by imagepressagency / Depositphotos In celebration of October's Hispanic Heritage Month, she released a Spanish single titled 'Hasta Mañana', which pays homage to her Latin roots. When asked if she knew any coritos, she admitted that her family knows more Mariachi party music than church music or coros de fe. So of course, we had to teach her one! Coritos are short   Spanish songs that the entire church can sing together. They're intentionally easy to follow and often have a call-and-response format like the congregational songs we sing in the Black Church. 'Praise The Lord Everybody' and 'God is a Good God, Yes He Is' are great examples of this. During a 2024 GMA Dove Awards red carpet interview, we sang ' Si Tuvieras Fe ', which means "if you have faith". It's a classic corito that is based on the bible verse found in Matthew 17:20 : "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there', and it will move. It's no surprise that Moriah sounded amazing! She continues to shine as a woman of color, a woman of artistry, and most importantly, a woman of faith.
